Insight Into the Chevrolet Impala for 2006

Chevrolet Impala

The 2006 Impala is an important vehicle to Chevrolet for the sedan market segment. The SS is a member of a series of four trim levels for the Impala which include SS, LS, LT, and LTZ. The four-door car with its front-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Chevrolet. There is strong competition from vehicles from Infiniti.

Performance

The Impala SS is equipped with a General Motors 5.3 liter eight-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a General Motors 4-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Impala has power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

For the 2006 Impala, the fuel delivery system is a electronic SFI, using gasoline for fuel. A fuel-injected MFI configuration. The gas tank holds 17.00 gallons.

Impala SS Statistics

The Impala is 200.40 inches long, 72.90 inches wide, and 58.70 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 110.50 inches. It is able to seat 6 comfortably.

A powertrain warranty is provided (36,000 miles/36 months), and a 36,000 mile, 36 month guarantee also comes with the Chevrolet Impala.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $20,330 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $19,212. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sedan.

Fuel Efficiency

The Impala SS received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty one in-city driving and thirty one when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was subpar.

In 2005 and 2006 the Impala SS was availble in the exterior colors of Amber Bronze Metallic, Black, Dark Silver Metallic, Glacier Blue Metallic, Silverstone Metallic, Sport Red Metallic, Superior Blue Metallic, and White.

Conclusion

The 2005 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Impala. The 2006 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Impala SS will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
