Car of the Year for 2005: The Chrysler Sebring
Posted: May 25, 2009 in 2005, Chrysler, Sebring | Tags: 2-Door, Base, Chrysler Sebring, Convertible, United States market
The Sebring Base is equipped with a Chrysler 2.4 liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The engine is mated to a Mitsubishi 4-speed Transaxle. This is a long-standing favorite for buyers in the Convertible arena.
Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Sebring has power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.
Vehicle Statistics
The Sebring is 193.70 inches long, 69.40 inches wide, and 55.00 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 106.00 inches. It is able to seat 4 comfortably.
The standard warranty period for the Sebring is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 84 months or 70,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the convertible market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.
The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $25,555 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $23,695. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 2-door Convertible.
Fuel Efficiency
The 2005 Sebring’s traditional fuel system runs on gas. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected multi-port fuel injection style of design. The fuel tank holds 16.00 gallons.
The 2005 Sebring gets 30 miles/gallon on the highway and only 22 in the city. This is exceptional for a convertible car.
We Think…
The 2004 model began the promise of the Chrysler Sebring. The 2005 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chrysler hopes that the Sebring Base will continue to be a profitable vehicle.

I saw the recent news about Chryslers and their reliability. I personally would check out web sites like edmunds.com and others before I made a choice of a car like the Sebring.
