The 2007 Cobalt is an important vehicle to Chevrolet for the sedan market segment. The LTZ is a member of a series of four trim levels for the Cobalt which include SS, LTZ, and LS. The four-door car with its front-wheel drive is positioned to aggressively fill this niche for Chevrolet. There is strong competition from vehicles from Lexus.
Performance
The Cobalt LTZ is equipped with a General Motors 2.2 liter four-cylinder engine that utilizes 16 valves. The Ecotec engine is mated to a General Motors 4-speed Transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.
For the 2007 Cobalt, the fuel delivery system is a electronic SFI, using gasoline for fuel. A fuel-injected MFI configuration. The gas tank holds 13.00 gallons.
The Cobalt uses power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.
Cobalt LTZ Statistics
The Cobalt is 180.50 inches long, 67.90 inches wide, and 55.50 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 103.30 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.
The listed retail price in 2007 (MSRP) was $17,595, with an invoice cost of $16,627. This price is above average of the industry average price for a four-door Sedan.
The standard warranty period for the Cobalt is 36 months, or 36,000 miles, whichever comes first. The warranty also includes a warranty on the drivetrain for 60 months or 100,000 miles respectively. This is standard in the sedan market. Extended warranties are also available through the dealer.
Fuel Efficiency
The Cobalt LTZ received a miles-per-gallon rating of 24 - 25 in-city driving and 32 - 34 when it came to long-distance. Being a gas-powered non-green car, this was subpar.
Conclusion
The 2006 model began the promise of the Chevrolet Cobalt. The 2007 expanded on this success and has proven to be a strong seller in most markets. Even with strong competition from other manufacturers Chevrolet hopes that the Cobalt LTZ will continue to be a profitable vehicle.
