Impressions of the Chevrolet Cobalt for 2007

One of the staples of the Sedan segment is the Chevrolet Cobalt. In the previous model year released a brand new version of the Cobalt with four versions: SS, LTZ, and LS. Sales for the Cobalt, especially the Cobalt SS, were brisk during 2007 and 2008. The improved vehicle quality and the classic styling were responsible for the sales boost.

The restyled Cobalt SS is equipped with a General Motors 2.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that utilizes a total of 16 valves. The Ecotec engine is paired with a General Motors 4-speed transaxle. This configuration has proven to be a successful design for Chevrolet.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $17,595 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $16,627. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sedan.

There are several reasons why the Chevrolet Cobalt SS sold well in 2007. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Chevrolet, specifically a Cobalt.
