A Better 2002’s Model: The 2003 Dodge Intrepid ES

Dodge Intrepid

A lot has been said about the Dodge Intrepid for 2003. As Dodge’s entry in the sedan market the Intrepid (and in this case specically the ES version) has maintained a solid reputation. The 4-door Intrepid is especially appealing to wide market segment, making it a perfect car to help Dodge as a brand in general.

Dodge Intrepid Engine Specs

Dodge Intrepid Engine Specs: The Intrepid ES comes outfitted with a 3.5 liter, 6-cylinder motor that uses 24 valves. The engine, manufactured by Chrysler, is teamed up with a Chrysler 4-speed transaxle. This arrangement has demonstrated to be an effective style for Dodge.

The Intrepid uses power-assisted brakes, with Non-ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are disc. Steering is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The car uses coil and coil springs front and rear respectively.

Intrepid ES Statistics

The Intrepid is 203.70 inches long, 74.70 inches wide, and 55.90 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 113.00 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.

The original manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) was $21,155 when new, with a dealer invoice cost of $19,645. This price was in line with the industry average price for a 4-door Sedan.

Fuel Efficiency

The 2003 Intrepid’s traditional fuel system runs on gas. The fuel is regulated electronically, with a fuel-injected multi-port fuel injection (MFI) style of design. The fuel tank holds 17.00 gallons.

The 2003 Intrepid gets 29 miles/gallon on the highway and only 21 in the city. This is exceptional for a sedan car.

Conclusion

There are several reasons why the Dodge Intrepid ES sold well in 2003. Mainly the increase in availability and a marked improvement in quality meant the buying public was more apt to choose a Dodge, specifically a Intrepid.
