First Impressions of the Chevrolet Beretta for 1994

A high point in the coupe market is the Chevrolet Beretta. In 1994 Chevrolet rolled out an upgraded version of the Beretta with two versions: Base and Z26. Sales for the Beretta, especially the Beretta Base, were brisk during 1994 and 1995. The improved reliability and the updated styling were responsible for the increased interest.

1994 Chevrolet Beretta Base Specs

The restyled Beretta Base is equipped with a 3.1-liter six-cylinder engine that utilizes 12 valves. The Chevrolet engine is mated to a General Motors four-speed transaxle. This has resulted in an increase in horsepower and torque over the 1993 version.

The fuel system for the 1994 Beretta is a traditional SFI, running on gasoline fuel. The fuel is controlled by an electronic system and is a fuel-injected MFI design. The capacity of the fuel tank is 15.20 gallons.

Steering control is handled through a power-steering rack-style configuration. The Beretta comes equipped with power-assisted brakes, with 4-Wheel ABS support. The front brakes are disc while the rear brakes are drum. The car uses coil front springs and coil in the rear.

Statistics

The Beretta is 187.30 inches long, 68.00 inches wide, and 53.00 inches high. It has a wheelbase of 103.40 inches. It is able to seat 5 comfortably.

The listed retail price in 1994 (MSRP) was $12,585, with a dealer invoice cost of an industry-high price. This price is in line with the industry average price for a two-door Coupe.

The standard warranty period for the Beretta is 60* months, or 50,000* miles, whichever comes first. This is standard in the coupe market.

Fuel Efficiency

The Beretta Base received a miles-per-gallon rating of twenty five in-city driving and 31 - 34 when it came to highway driving. Being a gas-powered non-hybrid car, this was within normal parameters.

Parting Shots

The 1994 model year was very successful for the Chevrolet Beretta. The introduction of several trim levels (along with the Base version) meant that buyers could find the version that best suited their needs.
